Vice-Chancellor Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu with Ms. Yvonne Nti, CEO, Y & M Regeneration Ltd

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, received Ms. Yvonne Nti, CEO, Y & M Regeneration Ltd at his office last month to formally thank her for her donation of 10,000 trees to the VC Greening Legon Initiative. Ms Nti said that she was informed about the VC’s Green Project by Prof Chris Gordon, Director of the Institute for Environment and Sanitation Studies and co-chair of the Green Project, and was immediately enthralled by the initiative; as it fits perfectly with her company’s motto of “Greening the environment, for a better tomorrow”.  The 10,000 seedlings are currently being nursed at the Y & M Regeneration nursery at Kintampo and would be transported to Accra when the rains start.

She explained that her company, Y & M Regeneration Ltd was established in 2009 for sustainable forestry and agri-business with a mission to ensure sustainable supply of forest and agro-products using a collaborative approach. They have worked with the Forestry Commission, African Plantations for Sustainable Development as well as local communities to supply timber seedlings and the sustainable production of charcoal.

The Vice-Chancellor Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu thanked Ms Yvonne Nti for her kind gesture and said that the trees are a very welcome addition to the Green Project.  While assuring her that the trees would be well taken of and maintained, the Vice Chancellor said he expected that this first batch of tree seedlings would be seen as the start of a long collaboration with Y & M Regeneration Ltd.
