UEW 2019 Available Staff Vacant Position – Director of Works and Physical Development

THE POSITION

The Director of Works and Physical Development is the head of the Office of Works and Physical Development of the University. S/he is responsible for the development and maintenance of all physical infrastructural facilities of the University.

THE PERSON

The applicant must:

  • possess a minimum of master’s degree and relevant professional qualification from a recognized institution;
  • be a registered and practicing member/fellow of a recognized professional body(ies)
  • possess a B.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Surveying/Architecture or any other relevant degree from a recognized institution.

S/he must also have:

  • considerable post-qualification experience in project management, procurement management, physical development, built environment, etc. in a higher educational institution or analogous institution;
  • handled and completed a project of a considerably high magnitude and value within a team environment;
  • proven leadership and managerial capabilities to lead and coordinate staff and activity;
  • excellent interpersonal communication skills;
  • considerable experience in office practice and procedure.
  • a minimum of fifteen (15) years post-qualification experience.
  • a minimum of twelve (12) years post-professional qualification experience.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT

The appointment is full-time. The successful applicant should be able to serve a four-year term of office before attaining the compulsory retiring age of Sixty (60) years.

  • ten (10) copies of a three-page statement of candidate’s vision for the Directorate.
