What Do I need To Know Before Selecting SHS In Ghana ? SHS School Selection This year is scheduled to take place on Monday 29th November to 14th December 2021.

Parents and guidance are particularly advised to take a keen interest in the selection of school processes and be involved for a smooth placement this year.

Computerized School Selection and Placement Systems (CSSPS) Guidelines for Selection of Schools for Placement 2021

As part of measures to ensure a smooth placement of qualified BECE candidates for 2021, the Ghana Education Service, Technical and Vocational Education and Training Service have put in place the following guidelines for the information of parents guidance teachers, candidates and the general public.

All senior high schools, senior high technical schools, technical and vocational education training institutions have been placed in four categories, namely A, B, C and D.

All candidates must choose their first to fifth choices from schools in Category A, B and C in order of preference.

Each choice must have a program and accommodation. Preference

candidates and parents should know that Category A Schools can only be selected once and Category B schools can be selected twice.

A candidate can select all five choices from Category C.

Additionally, candidates are to select a compulsory day as set choice from Category D or choose boarding school from the list of schools in Appendix three, as special boarding

Category D represents Day school option. These are schools that candidates can attend as their student and must be schools located in a candidate’s catchment area.

Appendix three contains special boarding schools that can be selected as boarding for sixth choice selection. Candidates who wish to offer only technical and vocational education and training programs must select all six TVET schools from Category A, B and C as Day or boarding.

In total, all candidates must select six schools. Parents are supposed to supervise their awards in the selection and filling process, sign and submit forms to the current junior high schools.

The list contains a total of 645 senior high schools grouped based on categories (A-D) and across all the regions. It also contains a list of programmes for private senior high schools. Additionally, it contains the list of public technical institutions and their courses.

Private candidates should see the SHS selection process for guidelines on how to select their preferred school.

NOTE: Regardless of the categories chosen, candidates must arrange their choices in order of preference
