When is the BECE School Selection PDF For 2023 Starting ? The SHS school selection process is expected to start Right After The BECE examination. Thus, the date for 2023 SHS School Selection is scheduled to begin on Monday, September 11, 2023, and run until Friday, September 22, 2023
The Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) says it will commence candidate and teacher sensitization and guidelines for 2023 school selection into Senior High Schools on Monday, September 11, 2023, and run until Friday, September 22, 2023.
This exercise will take place in all the respective Regional, district, and school education directorates.
The management wishes to inform stakeholders to watch out for short infographics, short videos in nine Ghanaian languages, flyers, and the physical presence of officers in all schools to embark on the sensitization device.
Parents and guidance counselors are particularly advised to take a keen interest in the selection of school processes and be involved for a smooth placement this year.
Again, there would be an opportunity for candidates to text a short code and confirm their school before actual placement would be done. Details of the shortcode will be made available in due course.
Computerized School Selection and Placement Systems (CSSPS) Guidelines for Selection of Schools for Placement 2023
As part of measures to ensure a smooth placement of qualified BECE candidates for 2023, the Ghana Education Service and Technical and Vocational Education and Training Service (GES/TVETS) have put in place the following arrangements for the information of parents/guardians/teachers, candidates, and the general public.
Grouping of Schools
A.
All second cycle institutions have been grouped into CATEGORIES as follows:
I. Public Second Cycle Institutions: Four (4) groups, namely Categories A, B, C, and D
I. All Technical and Vocational Education and Training institutions have been categorised into A, B and C, and added to SHS and SHTS
B. Updates Added
I. One hundred and thirty-nine (139) TVETS institutions previously under various ministries have been added
II. Appendix 1: contains Detailed Technical and Vocational Education and Training Service (TVETS) programmes
III. Appendix 2: contains detailed subjects of the Technical programs in the Sec/Tech institutions
IV. Appendix 3: Special Boarding Schools for the Sixth (6th) Choice
V. Appendix 4: contains list of Special Education Division (SPED) Schools
V. Sample choice: Some examples of correct and wrong choice patterns
VI. Some schools have been moved to different Categories (recategorized)

Before Selection of Schools and programs
Before making any selection of schools and programmes offered in these schools, parents are advised to note that all schools selected
(1st to 6th) are considered in the placement of candidates.
D
Conditions for selection of schools
Candidates with guidance from parents/guardians and school authorities;
a. Must choose Six (6) schools (1st–6th choices ) in all
b. Must select programmes and accommodations for each selected school
c. Must choose a compulsory day as 6th choice (Catchment Area School) or choose boarding School from the list of schools in Appendix 3
d. Must list 1st–5th choices in order of preference
e. Candidates who wish to offer purely TVET programs must select all six (6) TVET schools from categories A, B and C as Day or boarding schools.
f. Cannot choose more than one (1) School from Category A
g. Cannot select more than two (2) schools from Category B
h. May select five (5) choices from Category C and One (1) from Category D (Day) or Appendix 3 (Special Boarding)
NB// PRIVATE SHS and PRIVATE TVET SCHOOLS are not BENEFICIARIES of FREE SHS
Candidates who desire to pursue courses in private schools should make their own arrangements with the Private SHS
or PRIVATE TVET.
Parents are supposed to supervise their awards in the selection and filling process, sign and submit forms to the current junior high schools.

The list contains a total of 645 senior high schools, grouped based on categories (A-D) and across all the regions. It also contains a list of programs for private senior high schools. Additionally, it contains a list of public technical institutions and their courses.
Private candidates should see the SHS selection process for guidelines on how to select their preferred school.
NOTE: Regardless of the categories chosen, candidates must arrange their choices in order of preference
