College For Community And Organizational Development Admission Requirement

The following are the standard requirement for students seeking admission into the Bachelor of Science (BOD) program at CCOD:

1. West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Examinations Category

a. Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE)

i. Applicant must have grade D or better in three (3) core subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Integrate Science or Social Studies)
ii. Any three elective subjects, preferably in the social sciences with an aggregate 24 or better in 6 subjects

b. West African School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)

i. Applicant must have grade C6 or better in three (3) core subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Integrate Science or Social Studies)
ii. Any three elective subjects, preferably in the social sciences with an aggregate 36 or better in 6 subjects

c. General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level

i. Passes in three (3) subjects (at least one pass should be grade D or better)
ii. Applicants must have had credit passes ( grade 6) in five GCE Ordinary Level subjects including English, Mathematics and a Science subjects or business

d. General Business Certificate Examination (ABCE)

i. Passes in three (3) subjects (at least one pass should be grade D or better)
ii. Applicants must have had credit passes in five (5) subjects including English, Mathematics and a Science subjects or social science in the General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE)

2. Mature Students

Eligible applicants must meet the following criteria:

a) Be 25 years or above
b) Show proof of age with birth certificate or any legitimate national identity (ID),
c) Have passes in five G.C.E ‘O’ Levels subjects including English Language and Mathematics;
d) SSSCE/WASSCE holders must have passes in English Language and Mathematics, Integrated Science and three elective subjects;
e) Have five years post qualification working experience.
f) Mature Students’ candidates are expected to write and pass a selection examination and an interview to be conducted by the college (mandatory).
g) Diploma holders of community development (CD) or organization development (OD) and meet a-f above requirements are admitted into level 200 of the BOD.

3. Higher National Diploma (HND) Qualifications

i. HND and other Diploma applicants seeking admission into the Degree programmes should possess a First Class or Second Class (Upper and Lower) Division in the relevant area.
ii. The HND applicants would be admitted to level 300 and would be expected to pass a selection interview to be conducted by the college and with relevant OD certificate (s).
iii. The applicant must have acquired a 2-year post HND qualification working experience and in leadership position.
iv. Other Diploma qualification from elsewhere assessed to be equivalent to the HND may be similarly considered but MUST have OD and HR background.

4. Foreign Qualifications

All foreign qualification should be referred to the National Accreditation Board (NAB) for determination of equivalences and eligibility for admission to tertiary institutions in Ghana (National Accreditation Board Act, 2007 {Act 744 (2(2b)}). Note should be taken however that the American SAT, TOEEL etc. cannot in themselves be acceptable as entry qualifications into Ghanaian tertiary education institutions.

5. Professional and Other Entry Qualifications

All professional certificates in OD and any other qualifications beyond the ones specified above must be referred to the National Accreditation Board for the establishment of their equivalences, to determine their eligibility for admission to tertiary education institution- universities, university colleges, polytechnics, etc.

6. Degree in human resource (HR) entry

Applicant with who have degree in human resource (HR) from any recognized tertiary institutions in Ghana will have direct entry into level 300. A written examination and interview is required.
